Sheryl Roberts hails from Yorkshire, training in Fine Art at Jacob Kramer Art School and then studying Interior Design at Teeside University after which she returned to Leeds to study Industrial Design. Sheryl has been painting professionally since 1999 and now divides her time between her studios in Leeds and Weardale, County Durham. She draws her inspiration from the windswept high moors of the Northern Pennines, her primary aim to capture the communication between the skies and the landmass below.
Sheryl is now an award-winning artist, and not unsurprisingly she has been dubbed “the Turner of the North”. Her vision of tempestuous skies and chaotic landscapes has earned her international acclaim with a unique and distinctive style depicting dramatic light penetrating from the vast heavens above. The drama, colour and style produce work on a visually epic level, transporting the viewer to a time and place of epiphany. Sheryl predominantly paints in oils, layering the paint gradually with brush-work and pallet knife to build up a vibrancy and depth to each piece. Employing this classical method of composition coupled with a traditional technique gives a sense of timelessness to her work and yet it absolutely captures a contemporary feel. Hence, her superb paintings sit well in interiors that are traditional or contemporary, creating drama, intrigue and the focal point of any room.
Sheryl exhibits her work throughout the UK as well as internationally in cities such as New York, Amsterdam Paris and beyond. She also produces bespoke commissions for private collectors at home in the UK and internationally. Interior designers love her work for the visually stunning colour combinations and sense of wonder they add to any room. The discerning customers and interior designers who have purchased her work from us have all been thrilled with the results.
